REV. RICHARD A. HARRIS, SR.  has been a member of Firm Hope Baptist Church since 1982 As a member, then, Brother Harris, under the tutelage of the late Pastor Timothy C. Turner Sr. was active in the Prison and Youth Ministries. He was ordained in 1988 to serve as a Deacon. Pastor Harris attended the Jameson School of Ministry and Deliverance Bible Institute. He has also studied spiritual and emotional stress, depression, and anxiety therapeutic counseling through the Rational Emotive Spiritual Therapy (REST) Philly Project headed by Dr. Rick McKinney. Pastor Harris was called to preach the gospel in 1988 and has been the Pastor of Firm Hope Baptist Church for the past 13 years. During his tenure as the Pastor of Firm Hope Baptist Church he has expanded the Church Ministries through the Food Distribution Program, he has spearheaded the church into the technological age of computers, sound, and audio-visual devices through the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as various other Housing and Community initiatives for the neighboring community members.

Pastor Harris is the son of Willie and Martha Harris. He is married to his beautiful wife, First Lady, Ruthie Harris for the past 39 years. To this union were added three beautiful children, Richard Jr, Ryan, and Rachel as well as grandchildren.  Known as “Al” to his family and friends, Pastor Harris’ love of God is equally matched with the love of his family, as he is famous for saying, “God loves the family.”
